Core Tip Gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) treatment is complicated due to its high recurrence rate and multifactorial etiology. This editorial explores the findings of a study that evaluates the impact of inflammatory markers on GIST tumor progression and prognosis. platelet/lymphocyte ratio, and monocyte/lymphocyte ratio were found to significantly influence recurrence-free survival of patients with GISTs. This editorial explores how future integration of genetic mutations, tumor staging, and molecular profiling could bolster these results and future predictive models developed from this analysis.
