Core Tip |
This retrospective cohort study was aimed to evaluate the effect of antenatal steroid prophylaxis (ASP) on the general condition of preterm newborns. It demonstrates collected clinical data from January 2022 to February 2024 in Kazakhstan, Almaty region. 152 premature newborns with gestational ages between 24 and 34 weeks were analyzed depending on the completeness of ASP among them. Results show effect of ASP in prevention of respiratory distress syndrome and incidences of comorbidities related to respiratory, cardiovascular and digestive systems. In conclusion, findings suggest that ASP significantly improves neonatal outcomes, particularly in reducing birth asphyxia, primary resuscitation measures, need for lung ventilation including mechanical ventilation and nasal continuous positive airway pressure, and re-intubation cases. |
