Core Tip This review focuses on the mechanism of mitochondrial autophagy in diabetes-related cognitive impairment and skin ulcers. The focus of this study is to analyze how mitochondrial autophagy alleviates neurodegeneration caused by diabetes and promotes the molecular pathway of skin healing by clearing damaged mitochondria, elucidate the critical function of mitochondrial autophagy in preserving the metabolic balance of cells, and provide potential therapeutic strategies and intervention methods, is an effort to offer fresh concepts for the clinical management of problems associated with diabetes.
