Core Tip A recent meta-analysis demonstrated that partial upper sternotomy significantly reduced the length of the intensive care unit stay for patients with obesity undergoing aortic valve replacement without increasing major complications. These findings supported the use of partial upper sternotomy as a safe and effective minimally invasive strategy in patients who are high risk as long as sufficient surgical expertise is available. Further prospective studies are needed to confirm the long-term benefits and optimize standardization across centers.
