| Core Tip |
The study by Li et al employs propensity score matching (PSM) to robustly identify factors influencing job stress in parents of preschool children with intellectual disability. A child’s genetic history was identified as a key risk factor, significantly elevating parental stress. Conversely, protective factors such as strong friend support, active social support seeking, self-esteem maintenance, and effective coping strategies were found to mitigate stress. The use of PSM strengthens the causal inference of these findings by reducing selection bias. These results underscore the critical need for targeted interventions that bolster social support networks and enhance adaptive coping skills to improve the well-being of these families. |
