Core Tip The meta-analysis by Dubey et al provides focused evidence on a specific triple probiotic combination (Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus casei, Bifidobacterium bifidum) for diabetes management. The key finding is that this specific formulation significantly improves glycemic control, reduces oxidative stress and inflammation, and beneficially modulates lipid profiles. Unlike broader meta-analyses that pool various probiotics, this study’s specificity offers direct clinical relevance, suggesting this combination is a viable adjuvant therapy. However, the high heterogeneity in some results and the small number of included studies mean these promising findings should be interpreted with caution. Larger, well-designed randomized controlled trials are needed to solidify these conclusions.
