Core Tip This letter highlights that the health impact of physical activity depends not only on the amount, but also on its purpose and psychological meaning. Evidence from Zhao et al shows that vigorous job-related movement may increase depressive symptoms and accelerate cognitive decline, while moderate leisure activity offers clear neurocognitive and emotional benefits in aging adults. By shifting from a “move more” message to promoting autonomous, moderate-intensity leisure activity and protective strategies for physically demanding workers, this article proposes a precision approach to improve mental and cognitive aging in China.
