| Core Tip |
Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is becoming acknowledged as both an ocular and psychological condition. In addition to visual impairment, DR is significantly linked to depression, anxiety, emotional distress, and diminished quality of life. Social support, resilience, and psychological adaptability can profoundly impact emotional well-being and treatment compliance, while innovative technologies like artificial intelligence, teleophthalmology, and predictive retinal analytics are transforming DR screening and therapy. The incorporation of psychosocial treatment, mental health evaluation, and AI-enhanced multidisciplinary strategies may enhance visual and psychological results in individuals with DR. |
