Key Words Mesenchymal stem cells; Epiregulin (EREG); Periodontal tissue regeneration; Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR); Bone regeneration; Tissue engineering; Inflammation
Core Tip Epiregulin enhanced the migration, chemotaxis, and osteogenesis of mouse bone marrow stem cells under inflammatory conditions and can be used to treat various diseases associated with inflammation. In this opinion review, we consider the prospects of using the epiregulin-induced enhancing the cell function of mesenchymal stem cells in tissue engineering for the bone, skin, liver and intestinal regeneration and gut microbiota modulation.
