| Core Tip |
Obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus are drivers for the development of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Injectable glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists have revolutionized the treatment of these two interrelated disease entities, which have also shown beneficial impacts on other metabolic properties, including blood pressure and cholesterol levels. However, long-term adherence remains a concern due to the injection burden. Orforglipron is a once-daily oral small-molecule that provides beneficial effects on several cardiometabolic properties. It offers convenience by eliminating the need for weekly injections and refrigeration. Orforglipron may serve as a suitable alternative for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and obesity. |
