Core Tip This comparative re-analysis of publicly available gastric microbiome datasets from Italian and Chinese gastritis cohorts reveals distinct biodiversity patterns between Eastern and Western populations. Using unified 16S ribosomal RNA sequencing analysis, we demonstrate that Western patients show microbiome variation associated with histopathology and Helicobacter pylori status, whereas Eastern patients exhibit uniform Helicobacter pylori distributions but strong compartmentalization between mucosal and fluid samples. These geographic differences may reflect dietary, environmental, or sampling factors, emphasizing the need for standardized methodologies in future gastric microbiome research.
