Key Words Alcohol-related liver disease; Alcohol-related hepatitis; Clinical trials; Attrition; Retention; Systematic review
Core Tip There are few interventional trials reported on people with alcohol-related cirrhosis (ARC), which have lower short-term retention that may undermine interpretation of outcome data. Estimated retention in ARC trials was 85% at 3 months. Methods to improve participant engagement in alcohol-related liver disease trials need to be evaluated and applied to improve the quality of future studies.
