Core Tip Maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY) is a unique form of diabetes mellitus with an autosomal dominant genetic inheritance. Although, it is increasingly recognized due to advancements of molecular genetics and awareness amongst treating physicians, it is still misdiagnosed as type-1 or type-2 diabetes mellitus. Recognizing subtle clinical and biochemical features and using the MODY genetic calculator are essential for suspecting the diagnosis of MODY. Precise diagnosis leads to improved outcomes in these patients.
