Core Tip Repeated bone injuries in young athletes are caused by underlying connective tissue dysplasia (CTD), not just injury. While individual dysplastic signs (for example, arachnodactyly, chest deformities, Gothic palate) do not have sufficient diagnostic accuracy, their combined severity determines the threshold for repeated dysplastic injury at 44.2 scores on the CTD scale-a new indicator of predisposition to bone injuries. This threshold allows for rapid risk stratification without molecular genetic testing, supporting individual choice of sport and preventive strategies. A complex phenotype consisting of ten easily identifiable external signs is a practical screening tool for sports physicians, allowing them to maintain the health of the musculoskeletal system in youth.
