| Core Tip |
Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) requires accessible, non-invasive biomarkers for early risk stratification. This study evaluated the triglyceride-glucose index combined with a body shape index (TyG-ABSI), a composite marker of insulin resistance and central adiposity, in 7413 Chinese adults undergoing health examinations across the glycemic spectrum. TyG-ABSI was independently associated with MASLD in normal glucose regulation, prediabetes, and diabetes mellitus, with the strongest discriminative performance before overt diabetes developed. These findings suggest that TyG-ABSI holds potential as an accessible, laboratory-based marker for identifying cross-sectional MASLD risk, particularly during the metabolically vulnerable and actionable prediabetic stage. |
