Core Tip This letter to the editor reviews a recent study demonstrating that perioperative administration of magnesium isoglycyrrhizinate (MgIG) can mitigate postoperative liver injury and accelerate hepatic function recovery following hepatectomy. We emphasize the necessity of implementing measures, including risk-stratified patient selection, safety monitoring, pharmacotherapy management, mechanism investigation, and pharmacoeconomic evaluation, to standardize and optimize the clinical application of MgIG during hepatectomy.
