Core Tip his meta-analysis reveals that gastric cancer risk factors differ by anatomical subsite and ethnicity. Smoking significantly increases the risk of both cardia gastric adenocarcinoma (CGA) and non-CGA (NCGA). Alcohol consumption and higher body mass index are significantly associated with increased CGA risk but not NCGA risk. Helicobacter pylori infection shows opposite effects on CGA between East Asian and European populations but consistently increases NCGA risk. These findings support subsite-specific and ethnicity-specific prevention strategies.
