Key Words Enteral nutrition; Early enteral nutrition; Timing of enteral nutrition; Gastrointestinal tumors; Critically ill patients; Meta-analysis
Core Tip Early enteral nutrition (EN) significantly shortens hospital stays and reduces the incidence of mechanical ventilation in patients with postoperative gastrointestinal tumors or critically ill patients, compared to delayed EN. No significant differences were found in 28-day mortality, infection, or overall complication rates. Early EN improves clinical outcomes without increasing adverse reactions, supporting its appropriate use based on the patient’s condition.
