Evidence on the accuracy of the one-step nucleic acid amplification (OSNA) assay including individual and pooling approaches for detecting lymph node metastases in gastric cancer (GC) is limited. In this prospective multicenter study, OSNA showed 86% agreement with matched hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) assessments and identified molecular nodal positivity in a higher proportion of patients. The individual and pooling approaches showed similar point estimates for sensitivity and negative predictive value when compared with H&E, while pooling required fewer molecular determinations. These findings support OSNA as a complementary molecular approach for nodal assessment in GC and provide further evidence on the feasibility of pooling. |
