| Core Tip |
This large multicentre study developed a simplified risk prediction model for colorectal adenoma recurrence after endoscopic resection in a Chinese cohort of 5161 patients and assessed it in external cohorts at intermediate follow-up. The 5-item scoring system (age, sex, polyp size, polyp number, and histology) stratified patients into three risk groups in the development cohort, with 3-year recurrence rates of 26.4%, 47.9%, and 62.5% for low-, intermediate-, and high-risk groups, respectively. External assessment in two independent cohorts at intermediate follow-up (13.1-14.1 months) showed low-to-moderate discriminative performance (area under the receiver operating characteristic curve: 0.661 and 0.639). Formal external validation for the 3-year endpoint was not feasible due to limited long-term follow-up in external cohorts. This tool enables individualized post-polypectomy surveillance recommendations and fills an important gap in Chinese clinical practice. |
