Key Words Gastroesophageal reflux disease; Body mass index; Symptom network; Core symptoms; Network analysis; Overweight
Core Tip This first symptom network analysis of gastroesophageal reflux disease stratified by body mass index (BMI) reveals that depression and bloating are core symptoms irrespective of BMI. In overweight patients (BMI ≥ 25 kg/m²), anxiety, shortness of breath, and abdominal distension emerge as particularly influential. These findings provide novel, BMI-differentiated targets for symptom management in gastroesophageal reflux disease.
