| Core Tip |
Elevated fibrosis-4 index (FIB-4) was associated with higher all-cause mortality within the hepatic steatosis index (HSI) 30-36 and > 36 categories, but the overall interaction was not statistically significant. The observed gains in predictive performance were statistically detectable but small and do not establish clinical utility. Because HSI and FIB-4 share aminotransferase components and FIB-4 is influenced by age and platelet count, elevated FIB-4 should be interpreted as a composite risk marker rather than direct evidence of advanced liver fibrosis. |
