| Core Tip |
Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography is the standard treatment for common bile duct stones (CBDS) but carries procedure-related risks. Because CBDS may pass spontaneously, some patients may avoid unnecessary endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography. We developed and internally validated an endoscopic ultrasonography-based nomogram incorporating five independent predictors to estimate the probability of spontaneous CBDS passage. The model demonstrated moderate discrimination, good calibration, and potential clinical utility. This nomogram may facilitate individualized risk assessment and support clinical decision-making; however, it should complement rather than replace clinical judgment and requires prospective multicenter validation before routine clinical application. |
