| Core Tip |
Constipation is a common gastrointestinal complaint. From January 2019 to March 2024, we performed laparoscopic subtotal colectomy with antiperistaltic cecorectal side-to-side anastomosis for slow-transit constipation and conducted a dual-centre retrospective cohort study comparing this technique with end-to-side anastomosis. The results showed that subtotal colectomy with antiperistaltic cecorectal side-to-side anastomosis is an effective and safe procedure for slow-transit constipation, significantly improving postoperative outcomes, including reduced stool frequency, less abdominal pain and bloating, and better quality of life. Its clinical efficacy is superior to that of subtotal colectomy using end-to-side anastomosis. |
