In 186 adults with functional dyspepsia (FD), Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale-defined anxiety symptoms were common and were associated with female sex, longer disease duration, greater symptom severity, and poor sleep quality. Anxiety symptom status was also associated with lower Gastrointestinal Quality of Life Index scores. The pattern was broadly consistent across sensitivity analyses, including the analysis excluding concomitant irritable bowel syndrome. These findings support integrated assessment of sleep, psychological symptoms, and gastrointestinal burden in FD. |
