Core Tip	Psychosocial interventions are the primary treatment options for the behavioural variant of frontotemporal dementia (bvFTD). This review identified 68 previous reviews and 38 studies on psychosocial treatment for bvFTD. Potentially useful caregiver interventions include education, support, strengthening caregivers’ coping and illness-management skills, psychotherapy for caregivers, and respite care. Patient interventions include activity-based therapies, behavioural interventions, environmental modifications, speech therapy, harm-reduction interventions, residential and palliative care, and support. A few studies have reported positive outcomes from psychosocial management of bvFTD, but their methodologies are inadequate. Further research on psychosocial interventions for bvFTD is needed to support patients and families.
