| Core Tip |
This propensity score-matched retrospective study compared continuous glucose monitoring-guided (CGM-guided) with fingertip glucose-guided perioperative management in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. CGM-guided management was associated with shorter preoperative waiting time, shorter hospitalization, and lower inpatient costs. Higher time-in-range (TIR) was contemporaneously associated with fewer events in an exploratory composite outcome, but the overlapping TIR and event-assessment windows preclude temporal or predictive interpretation; the association was not significant when diarrhea was excluded. The data-derived approximately 65% TIR cut-point is non-actionable and hypothesis-generating only and should not be used for clinical decision-making without external validation. |
