Key Words Gastric cancer; Perineural invasion; Overall survival; Recurrence-free survival; Overlap weighting; Propensity score
Core Tip Perineural invasion (PNI) frequently accompanies advanced pathological features in gastric cancer, making its prognostic association difficult to isolate in retrospective cohorts. Overlap weighting (OW) was the primary analysis, with original-cohort regression and propensity score matching as sensitivity analyses. After OW and multivariable Cox regression, PNI remained associated with poorer overall survival, whereas its association with recurrence-free survival was not statistically significant.
