| Core Tip |
Laser haemorrhoidoplasty has been shown to be an alternative surgical management compared to excisional haemorrhoidectomy with lower post-operative pain. Patients in this study were followed-up during the immediate post-operative period, up to 3-month post-operatively. Of 46 patients included in the study, only up to two patients required opioid use post-operatively up to post-operative day 6; following which, no opioids were required. There were significant improvements in Haemorrhoidal Disease Symptom Score between pre-operative and 1-month post-operatively, and pre-operatively and 3-month post-operatively. Cumulative sum analysis showed that about 26 cases were required to overcome the initial learning curve for improving operating time. |
