| Core Tip |
Cost remains a barrier to video laryngoscope adoption in resource-limited settings. This study evaluated an indigenously prepared video laryngoscope, created by attaching a wireless borescope camera to a standard Macintosh blade and displaying the image on a smartphone against the conventional Macintosh laryngoscope in critically ill patients. Total intubation time and first-attempt success were comparable between groups, while device insertion time was approximately 1 second shorter with the indigenous device. Larger studies are required to determine whether this time difference has meaningful clinical consequences. |
