Key Words Hormone receptor-positive advanced breast cancer; Endocrine therapy; Cyclin-dependent kinase 4/6 inhibitor; Pathological complete response; ;
Core Tip The rate of pathological complete response (pCR) after endocrine therapy (ET) in hormone receptor-positive breast cancer is low, limiting the value of pCR as a surrogate endpoint for the effectiveness of this treatment. Moreover, radical resection of locoregional recurrence is difficult to achieve when the tumor invades critical structures, e.g. blood vessels. Several studies have evaluated whether ET could also be used as a research platform for testing novel drugs in patients with ER-positive disease.
