Core Tip This is a retrospective study to investigate the changes in serum vitamins before and after chemotherapy for esophageal cancer (EC) and their influencing factors. Vitamin deficiencies are common in EC patients during chemotherapy and may be associated with the change in body mass index (BMI). There were correlations between the changes in vitamin A and C concentrations and the change in BMI during chemotherapy. Vitamin A level after chemotherapy showed a significant difference between males and females and vitamin D level after chemotherapy showed a significant difference among different stages. Vitamin supplementation may reduce the adverse effects of chemotherapy, improve the nutritional status.
