Core Tip Prolonged postoperative ileus (PPOI) is a frequent complication of abdominal surgery that results in severe disease burden and pain, including compromised postoperative nutrition, continuing discomfort, and increased risk of postoperative complications. Identification of the risk indicators of PPOI and determine a risk prediction model is urgently required. In this study, we investigated the pre-, intra-, and postoperative risk factors for PPOI and developed a simple and easy-to-use prediction nomogram of PPOI for gastric cancer. The nomogram can be used to estimate the risk of PPOI and guide clinicians to develop effective management strategies.
