Core Tip Drug-eluting stent is a relatively new therapeutic concept for malignant biliary obstructions; however, there have only been limited studies reported and all of them were single-drug-loaded type with a simple design, also lack complete, serial in vitro and in vivo study. Our study was the first trial to apply dual chemotherapeutic medications to Drug-eluting stent with several improvements in the design compared to previous ones for the palliative therapy of extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma with relatively complete pre-clinical evaluation, and our results indicated this brand-new stent could be a promising alternative to realize dual functions of biliary drainage and local chemotherapy.
