Key Words Torticollis; 3D-printed lateral mass fusion cage; Craniovertebral junction; Developmental bony anomaly; Case report
Core Tip Torticollis is mainly caused by muscular problems. The osseous base of torticollis has been reported with accompanying conditions of neurological deficits, atlantoaxial subluxation, basilar invagination, trauma, and infection of the craniovertebral junction (CVJ). Torticollis caused by developmental, abnormal bony morphology without any associated neurological deficits is rare. Treatment of torticollis usually starts with conservative measurements, and surgery is the final option when traction fails. The type of surgical treatment depends on the individual surgeon’s personal experience and choice. There is no gold standard. However, in the case of torticollis caused by a developmental bony anomaly of the CVJ without any associated conditions, the utilization of a three-dimensional printed lateral mass fusion cage may be the best choice.
