| Core Tip |
Eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders encompass a spectrum of chronic, immune-mediated conditions characterized by eosinophilic infiltration of the gastrointestinal tract in the absence of secondary causes. Despite its increasing prevalence, significant gaps remain in awareness, diagnosis, and treatment of the disease. The diagnosis mandates demonstration of tissue eosinophilia, typically on gastrointestinal endoscopic biopsies, together with exclusion of secondary causes. The treatment involves dietary modifications, corticosteroids, proton pump inhibitors, and emerging biologics targeting key cytokine pathways. The lack of standardized guidelines emphasizes the need for multidisciplinary care and further research to refine diagnostic thresholds and optimize treatment strategies. |
