Only through comprehensive approaches integrating multiple biological scales and temporal dimensions can we transform blood transfusion from a necessary evil to a precision therapeutic intervention in surgical oncology, ultimately improving outcomes for the thousands of gastric cancer patients who undergo surgery each year.
