| Core Tip |
Estrogen receptor-positive luminal breast cancer is the most common molecular subtype and continues to be a primary clinical concern due to its extended natural course and ongoing risk of late recurrence. Current treatment strategies are primarily based on endocrine therapy, which is often combined with targeted agents. Nevertheless, resistance to endocrine therapy can develop. Emerging evidence highlights the significant role of cholesterol metabolism in estrogen receptor-positive luminal breast cancer, which should be characterized as cholesterol-sensitive rather than statin-dependent. The development of a metabolic framework specific to this subtype may facilitate the interpretation of existing data and inform future research initiatives. |
