| Core Tip |
This retrospective cross-sectional study primarily evaluated neuropsychiatric and cognitive outcomes following acute ischemic stroke (AIS). At 3 months after AIS, post-stroke cognitive impairment was prevalent and was accompanied by a greater neuropsychiatric burden. Correlation analysis showed that depression and overall neuropsychiatric symptoms were significantly negatively correlated with cognitive function in patients with AIS. In addition, higher national institutes of health stroke scale scores, anxiety, depression, higher neuropsychiatric inventory-questionnaire total scores, and pre-stroke cognitive impairment were associated with an increased risk of post-stroke cognitive impairment in patients with AIS. |
