This retrospective study of patients who underwent laparoscopic radical gastrectomy revealed a significantly higher postoperative latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) reactivation rate following the coronavirus disease (COVID)-19 pandemic (10.47% vs 4.79% before the pandemic). Independent risk factors included the post-COVID era (as a temporal marker for pandemic-related healthcare and psychosocial disruptions), age ≥ 65 years, exposure to tuberculosis, preoperative lymphocytopenia, and postoperative complications. The five-factor model demonstrated good predictive performance, supporting enhanced preoperative screening and postoperative monitoring to reduce the risk of LTBI reactivation. |
