Core Tip This study assessed the impact of implementing enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) strategies among 180 individuals undergoing complex colorectal cancer procedures classified as grade III or IV and found that ERAS substantially promoted the return of bowel function, relieved postoperative pain, lowered complication rates, shortened hospital stay, and decreased medical costs. ERAS also improved the patients’ postoperative nutritional status, alleviated anxiety and depression, and enhanced nursing satisfaction. ERAS is safe and effective in complex colorectal surgery and has demonstrated considerable clinical adoption and dissemination.
