Self‑Rating Depression Scale (SDS)-defined depressive symptoms in patients with coronary heart disease are associated with alterations in inflammatory, metabolic, and neurotransmitter pathways. This study found higher interleukin-6 levels and lower leptin and 5-hydroxytryptamine concentrations in affected individuals. Combining these serum markers with clinical variables provided higher discrimination between patients with and without SDS-defined depressive symptoms than any single marker alone. Because this was a retrospective analysis and the temporal order of biomarker sampling and SDS assessment was not uniform, the model should be interpreted as a multidimensional discrimination approach rather than a prospective predictor. |
