The triglyceride glucose (TyG) index is an emerging, easily accessible marker of insulin resistance that independently predicts poorer treatment response and survival in patients with advanced or metastatic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma undergoing immunotherapy with camrelizumab and chemotherapy (nab-paclitaxel/cisplatin). A high TyG index is significantly associated with a lower objective response rate (23.7% vs 55.6%) and worse progression-free survival and overall survival. The TyG index may aid in patient stratification and inform treatment decisions for advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, potentially improving clinical outcomes. |
