Key Words Anxiety; Depression; Acute myocardial infarction; Percutaneous coronary intervention; Major adverse cardiovascular events; Predictive value
Core Tip This retrospective cohort study of 200 post-percutaneous coronary intervention acute myocardial infarction patients found high detection rates of anxiety (75.0%) and depression (61.0%). Depression independently predicted 1-year major adverse cardiovascular events [MACE; odds ratio (OR) = 5.70], whereas anxiety did not. However, the “anxiety plus depression” phenotype carried the highest MACE risk (46.9%; OR = 7.30). Clinicians should prioritize depression screening while recognizing the synergistic risk of comorbid anxiety and depression.
