| Core Tip |
Teach-back is an effective, patient-centered educational strategy that significantly improves knowledge, self-efficacy, self-management, treatment adherence, and quality of life among patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis. By encouraging patients to explain health information in their own words, teach-back reinforces understanding, identifies knowledge gaps, and promotes active participation in care. In this randomized controlled study, patients receiving teach-back education demonstrated greater improvements in problem-solving skills, emotional coping, partnerships with healthcare providers, and adherence to dialysis-related recommendations compared with conventional education. Integrating teach-back into routine hemodialysis education may enhance patient outcomes and support long-term disease management. |
