Key Words Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease; Frailty; Sarcopenia; Myosteatosis; Physical function; Cardiovascular dysfunction
Core Tip Frailty adds a functional dimension to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease that is not captured by liver-centered assessment alone. Hepatic disease, skeletal muscle impairment, and cardiovascular dysfunction may jointly reduce physiological reserve, while functional status may not parallel liver disease severity. The liver-muscle-heart framework highlights the value of assessing muscle strength, physical performance, nutrition, and independence alongside conventional hepatic and cardiometabolic risk assessment.
