Core Tip Artificial intelligence-assisted art therapy should be treated as a supervised digital-creative intervention, not as stand-alone artificial intelligence psychotherapy. Direct patient-level evidence is preliminary, limited, and heterogeneous and clinician-perspective evidence is limited; most proposed uses rely on conceptual or transferable evidence from art therapy, chatbot research, digital psychiatry, immersive technologies, affective computing, and health-care artificial intelligence ethics. Patients should remain authors of meaning, therapists should remain clinically accountable, and artificial intelligence systems should remain bounded tools inside documented care pathways. These proposals require prospective evaluation and do not establish readiness for routine clinical deployment.
