| Core Tip |
B-cell-directed therapies have significantly improved the management of immune-mediated glomerular diseases. Although rituximab is the most commonly used agent, its effectiveness can be constrained by incomplete B-cell depletion, disease relapse, anti-drug antibody development, and the persistence of CD20-negative plasmablasts and plasma cells. Novel therapeutic approaches targeting next-generation CD20, CD38, B cell activating factor/B-lymphocyte stimulator, a proliferation-inducing ligand, CD40/CD40 L, proteasome-dependent plasma-cell survival, CD19, and B-cell maturation antigen have the potential to broaden treatment options for patients with relapsing or refractory disease. However, geographic differences in agent availability and financial constraints may limit their use in certain countries. |
