Core Tip Limited availability of three-dimensional cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) datasets remains a major barrier to artificial intelligence-based diagnosis of jaw lesions. This study demonstrates that a three-dimensional deep convolutional generative adversarial network can generate synthetic CBCT lesion volumes that meaningfully augment real clinical datasets. Incorporating these synthetic volumes into convolutional neural network training improved diagnostic performance for differentiating jaw cysts and tumors, achieving 85.9% accuracy and an area under the curve of 0.980. These findings support generative adversarial network-based augmentation as a practical strategy for strengthening artificial intelligence-assisted diagnosis in oral and maxillofacial radiology.
