| Core Tip |
Metainflammation contributes to the pathogenesis of numerous metabolic disorders and chronic diseases, including metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and metabolic dysfunction and alcohol-associated liver disease (MetALD). It promotes hepatic lipid accumulation, inflammation, fibrosis, and cell death, thereby accelerating the progression of MASLD or MetALD to cirrhosis and liver cancer. Therapeutic strategies targeting metainflammation, including gut microbiome-directed therapies, dietary modulation, antioxidant interventions, and modulation of lipid metabolism, represent promising therapies for metabolic liver diseases. |
